From selling clothes in the back of her Station Wagon to owning the swankiest lifestyle store in Sri Lanka, Otara Gunewardene is the country’s top female entrepreneur, fashion icon and philanthropist. In 2010 she was the first woman to take her company public in Sri Lanka. Not content with the success of the Odel store, Otara launched Embark, which is synonymous with street dog welfare in Sri Lanka. After 25 years of hard work she sold Odel to pursue her true calling: a service for animals.
