Mahua Moitra is currently serving as Member Parliament, after being elected from Krishnanagar in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. She is also a Member of the Standing Committee on Information Technology. In 2016, she was elected to the West Bengal Assembly from Karimpur constituency an All India Trinamool Congress ticket, overturning a seat held by the CPM continuously since 1977.
