The first woman parliamentarian from the Karur Lok Sabha seat, Jothimani scripted her maiden electoral victory by defeating a senior incumbent leader despite facing severe opposition from people within her party towards her candidature. She is a former writer, who served as a Panchayat Ward Councilor, before she went on to hold key positions in the INC.
