Dr. SANJUKTA PARASOR IPS

SP, National Investigation Agency

A 2006 IPS batch officer from Assam, Dr. Sanjukta Parasor has a formidable reputation as a hardcore professional who has led the fight against terrorism in Assam before being posted to New Delhi as Superintendent of Police at the National Investigative Agency. First assigned to Makum, Assam, in 2008 as an Assistant Commandant, Sanjukta soon showed her mettle and was transferred to Udalguri in Assam to manage the communal violence between Bodo and illegal Bangladeshi militants. Later as SP of Jorhat which is a high profile district and of Sonipur, an insurgency prone area requiring multifaceted counter insurgency operations, coordination and synergy with numerous law enforcement agencies and security forces, she proved her capabilities. Within a very short span of assuming operations, the police team neutralized many militants and arrested several of them, earning the sobriquet the Iron Lady of Assam. An active fighter in the war against terror, Sanjukta has investigated the Bhopal – Ujjain train blasts, infiltration by Pakistani militants, and cases of terror funding. But it is her softer side that has endeared her to the people of her home state Assam where she was a familiar figure in the refugee camps, assisting those in need to the extent possible. A keen sportswoman and academic, this all-rounder completed her graduation in Political Science from IP College, Delhi University. She went on to do a Master’s in International Relations from JNU, New Delhi followed by an M.Phil and a Phd in US foreign policy.
