After a successful career in advertising at Leo Burnett in Mumbai, Ashwiny directed the award winning film Nil Battay Sannata in 2106 which won her the coveted Filmfare Award for Best Debut Director. She followed that up with another box office hit Bareilly ki Barfi this year consolidating her reputation as a young woman director to watch out for.
